Developed by a state-sponsored private organization, All Aboard Florida, Brightline is a high-speed intercity passenger rail system offering passengers quick travel times from Miami to popular Florida destinations, such as Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, and Orlando. All Aboard Florida envisioned an ultra-modern station design to pair well with its iconic transportation service.
As Brightline’s most notable train stop, Downtown Miami Station needed an attractive centerpiece, comparable to the Grand Central Station clock, that would be an eye-catching display as passengers ascend and descend the escalators. Its location presented logistical challenges; they wanted to anchor the display on a four-sided, 34-foot column that stood at a 15-degree angle. A complicated integration process was expected for this type of architectural challenge, which limited the list of manufacturers capable of providing a solution.
Known for its versatility and quality performance, Nanolumens was the chosen manufacturer to help create a large-format LED visual solution for Brightline. As audiovisual technology experts offering the best audiovisual solutions, Phase Integration partnered with Nanolumens to develop an effective installation strategy. Over several months, our audiovisual consultants coordinated multiple deployments due to a complex construction schedule and finalization of the finished product.
The four-panel, 6.3 mm pixel pitch dvLED install was meticulously mounted on the column, separately hanging each display to form a seamless wrapped visual. Each panel was designed with specific measurements, 35 feet by 9 feet, 34.5 feet by 9 feet, 35 feet by 11 feet, and 14.5 feet by 11 feet, to fit the atypical column structure.
